Flu Bug

Don't know about the rest of the country, but Vegas is getting hit by the flu bug. Everyone at my office is sneezing and hacking around. I've been feeling a little under the weather the past couple days but warding it off as much as possible since I'm getting ready to kick off another class starting tomorrow.

This one has been weird, though it's giving people body aches like in your lower back. Thought I was having kidney problems, but a co-worker said she was having the same pains.

I believe part of my keeping the flu away is the Body Balance I've been drinking every morning when I wake up. It's definitely had an effect on my energy but think it's also keeping me from getting seriously sick like other people. Drop me a line if you'd like to know more about this magic potion! I can tell you how to sign up and buy some of your own.

Rainy Days and Mondays

It's been a rainy day in Vegas with storm clouds all around. It is fitting for the way I feel today. I'm fighting off a cold. My body is achy and throat is raw. It's not often that we get rain in Las Vegas since our average rain fall is only 5" per year.
Didn't have to work today since it was Presidents Day celebrating the birthdays of George Washington and Abraham Lincoln. I believe the holiday now celebrates all Presidents and not just those two. Maybe it was to condense two holidays into one so the Government and Banks would have one less holiday?

It's back to the office tomorrow and then into a class for the remainder of the week. I'll be training in Jean, NV which is 25 miles south of Las Vegas on the way to the California Border. I'm looking forward to this class since I'll be co-facilitating with Ondra Berry one of the Masters from Guardian Quest. I've never gotten to train with him so this will be an experience!!

Life Is Short

Two weeks ago we lost a co-worker from Corporate HR at MGM MIRAGE. He was only 42 years old and had such a great spirit and sense of humor. It made me think about the foot prints I'm making in my own life. What's the legacy I will leave behind. How will people remember me? Am I giving people "live or die" votes in my actions and behaviors?
Life is so brief and short yet we live like we've got all this time out ahead of us. We never know when we will close our eyes for the final time and leave this planet. The past is there to learn from, the future is like wet cement for us to make our impressions in and leave a legacy. The cement doesn't stay wet forever.

I wonder if I knew I only had a year to live what would I do with that time? What would I change? Who would I spend my final time with? Would work be that important?

Trust - The Ultimate Bank Account

Trust is the foundation for all relationships personal and professional. Contracts are made with trust, marriages, friendships are all built on trust. When I think about the people in my life that I truly "trust" the number is actually really low. Trust should never be taken lightly. The definition of trust is "I have confidence in you".

Think about how easily we tear down trust when we don't honor our word, don't keep our commitments, lie, sugar coat something, ignore someone. When trust is broken it takes a lot more to build it up the second time around.

There's a new book by Stephen M.R. Covey the son of Stephen Covey called "The Speed Of Trust". In this book he talks about the 13 Behaviors of a High Trust Leader. I am working on these behaviors myself and would love people to rate me on them. If you would like to participate in this process with me to help me improve myself it would be greatly appreciated. I will send you an anonymous evaluation form. This is to help me improve myself.

The 13 Behaviors are:
#1 Talk Straight
#2 Demonstrate Respect
#3 Create Transparency
#4 Right Wrongs
#5 Show Loyalty
#6 Deliver Results
#7 Get Better
#8 Confront Reality
#9 Clarify Expectations
#10 Practice Accountability
#11 Listen First (Habit #5 in the 7 Habits of Highly Effective People)
#12 Keep Commitments
#13 Extend Trust
