Evening at Bellagio

Later on Saturday evening Trent, Richard, Andy and I went to Cirque Du Soleil's "O" at the Bellagio. I had seen this show before from the balcony seats however there isn't anything better than seeing it from the floor where you can see the depth of the stage and have a much broader view of the show. A good friend of mine Janice arranged VIP tickets for us so the seats were great. Before the show started Richard and I turned around to see the most beautiful guy coming down the stairs and sure enough he sat right in front of us!

The show opens with a couple clowns messing in the audience and water leaking from the ceiling. Trent said during the show that the audience was being misted, however I didn't feel it. Now if the guy in front of us would have misted me I would have definitely felt it! ; P

You're probably wondering why they named the show O. Well O is the French word for water and there is a ton of it in this show, 1.5 million gallons of it to be exact. The performers do the typical Cirque acrobatics and things however with a twist, their all wet! That sounds kinda bad doesn't it, actually it sounds kinda hot! Whatever it is, it was an amazing show. It will absolutely blow you out of the water, no pun intended!! ; )

Andy said it was nothing like he had expected. Trent said he thought it was going to be like a huge human aquarium where we would be watching people do things through glass. They were surprised at the show and totally amazed. It's a strange sensation when a performer goes into the water and never comes back up.

The show is a must see when you're in Vegas. It is well worth the money. This was one evening we made memories to last a lifetime. I hope to see O again in the near future.

A Tribute to Mr. Showmanship

This past Saturday I picked up Trent, Richard and Andy at New York New York Hotel and Casino. I told them I had a surprise show for them. We proceeded down Tropicana toward the east a few miles from the Strip to a place known as the Liberace Museum.

A dear friend named Wes Winters does an hour tribute show to Mr. Showmanship himself… Liberace. Wes is absolutely amazing at the piano and if you close your eyes and listen to him play you would swear Liberace was serenading you on the ebony and ivory!

Wes plays on the rhinestone grand piano, the last one Liberace ever played in concert at Radio City Music Hall. Against Liberace’s doctors wishes he had a few sold out performances and as frail and sick as he was, the show must go on and he played out all the shows he booked at Radio City Music Hall. The piano comes to life once again with Wes behind the keyboard with Fifi. You’ll have to check out the show if you want to see who fifi is!

Richard Cherry also plays the piano and he was totally mesmerized by Wes’s show. Andy who saw Liberace in concert as a young boy still remembers everything about that concert with Mr. Showmanship. Andy was thoroughly impressed and enjoyed the show. Trent was equally impressed and all three were glad we went to the show.

Thanks to Wes and Rod for the tickets and the bonus Wes threw in at the end. After the show a lady from the audience told Wes her favorite number is the medley from Phantom of the Opera. Wes said he’d be happy to play it so all of us stuck around and listened to the number. Thanks Wes for being an incredible performer and most of all for being a great friend.

Anyone visiting Vegas needs to see his 1 hour tribute show to Liberace. If you’re here on a Wednesday night you need to see his 3 hour Wes Winters show where he plays and sings songs from every period.

Here’s a link to Wes’s Website if you would like more information:

Some Blog Basics (Warning... It's addictive)

If you're not familiar with Blogs let me give you a few pointers:

At the end of each post is the date it was posted and comments. You can select comments and add any thoughts, questions, observations or whatever you'd like. When you select comments a box will pop up and you have three options: Blogger, Other or Anonymous. Select "Other" and you have the option of typing in your name which is very helpful. The word verification is so the Blog doesn't get unwanted spam in the comments section.

The fun part is coming back to visit the blog often and read people's comments and join in on the conversation. If I have read a post previously I will usually scroll to the end of the post and look at the number of comments, if the number has gone up since the last time I viewed them I will click on the comments and scroll up and down to read the newest ones. As the Blogger I will post comments as well in response to someone else's comments.

As time goes by I will get better about how to program this site to show pictures, share links and change the look of my blog. I hope to keep this blog on a positive note however seeing other people's blogs sometimes it may get intense on the conversations between my posts and the comments section. I will hopefully try and keep politics and religion out of the Blog but some of you know how passionate I am about those subjects!

btw... (means "by the way") (for my mother).... I do put spaces between the period in the post, however the Blog pushes it all together when it's posted. Just wanted to let you know I do know proper spacing when writing.

A New Day...

Life is changing and new day has come. I recently relocated back to Las Vegas, Nevada from Atlanta, Georgia after spending about five months finding myself, rekindling old friendships and deepening other friendships. Some friends exited my life while others entered it. The only thing constant in life is "change".

Lets start back at the beginning so you have a little reference of the past couple years....

After spending eight great years at Bank of America I found myself position eliminated and given a few months severance. I decided to travel on my flight benefits and see the world. The world turned out to be back home in Ohio, San Diego for a few weeks and a couple weekends in Vegas. A cousin of mine has lived in Vegas for years and suggested that I move to Vegas instead of San Diego due to being more affordable. Those familiar with Vegas, I applied for a position with Bellagio and Lady Luck downtown. I interviewed with Lady Luck and received a polite decline letter in the mail. The same week I was turned down by Lady Luck I was accepted by Bellagio and started working at the most beautiful property on the strip.

I enjoyed a few months in HR at Bellagio and then went to Corporate being MGM MIRAGE. I worked in Government Affairs for MGM MIRAGE and got to tour Senators and Congress People around back-of-the-house at Bellagio. After receiving a job offer back in Atlanta more than doubling my salary, I picked up and moved back. After a few months and the job not working out the way it was suppose to be I found a position back with MGM MIRAGE that truly got my interest.

I decided to pack it up in Atlanta once again and head West. I arrived back in Vegas on April 26th and that evening enjoyed taking Mathew Palmer to see Celine Dion in concert. After the show we enjoyed a backstage tour. I started working back at MGM MIRAGE in Corporate HR on May 1st while starting the interviewing process for Diversity Leadership Manager. The position facilitates a three day workshop on self awareness and team building for Executive to Line Management employees. The three days are absolutely amazing with powerful break troughs for employees. I am happy to say that I was selected after going through six levels of interviews which included a panel interview with five managers and an audition where I had to facilitate a 20 minute presentation.

I shared my news with Trent Jones, Richard Cherry and Andy Tsangarides on Friday night as we enjoyed all you can eat Alaskan King Crab at the Mandalay Bay Buffet. This past Friday night started what would be my most memorable weekend yet in Las Vegas. I will be posting our very memorable weekend over the next few days so stay tuned!!
